Although Rebecca Onion currently lives in Austin, Texas, she's originally from New Hampshire, and will live free 'till she dies.

From 2001 to 2004, she worked at ym magazine. When she left to go freelance in 2004, she was a staff writer, in charge of producing the health column, the college page, and the letters page, as well as various features. In 2004 she was a contributing editor to ym and a contributing writer to ELLEgirl.

Rebecca graduated from Yale University in 2000 with a degree in American Studies. She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was awarded a Donald D. Harrington Fellowship for graduate study.
